We ensures the whole campus follows federal and state laws pertaining to access to information and technology.
We are dedicated to meeting the needs of persons with disabilities in all aspects of its academic programs and services. The College recognizes the importance of making its physical facilities as well as its information technology services accessible to ensure the campus is accessible by everyone regardless of disability.
The College is committed to universal accessibility of its website. We welcome any ideas or comments from our clients that may help us to further improve upon the accessibility and usability of our website.
Policy
We develop the work plan, guidance, and resources to assist campus in carrying out the accessible technology provisions of California Government Code 11135 and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act “It is the policy of the GGC to make information technology resources and services accessible to all GGC students, faculty, staff, and the general public regardless of disability.”
Areas of Focus
We identified a plan addressing the following three areas:
- Web Accessibility
- Instructional Materials Accessibility
- Accessible Information and Communication Technology
We make electronic and information technology accessible to all students, employees and the general public, including those individuals with disabilities by employing the 2017 Section 508 guidelinesthat align with the Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA.
The advantages of universal Web accessibility go beyond legal requirements and the usefulness of a Web site to people with disabilities. Applying universal design concepts to a Web site make it accessible to all site visitors, including those visiting with graphics turned off or with mobile devices.
Governance
The IT Service continues to meet and develop policies, procedures and practices that are structured around accessibility.
